Question
I just had a few questions regarding my 3 month old lab
puppy. I just wanted to make sure that snoring is normal as
it seems whenever he's deep in sleep he snores...quite loud
I might add.
Also he quite often has very noticeable twitching in his
sleep, like dreaming almost...is it dreaming?
He's learning quite quickly however we've run into a slight
issue with bathroom behaviours..he's associated going
downstairs is where the bathroom is because it's been
raining so thats where we take him outside, however if the
door isn't open downstairs he instantly eliminates on the
floorboards (luckily not carpet he never seems to go on
carpet) is this an issue easily rectified because he's
young?

Thank you,

Stephanie

Answer
Snoring and twitching when sleeping is COMMON for ANY dog.

Block the way downstairs with a babygate.  As a puppy, you want to limit the area in the home he is allowed in.  And he should not be allowed in more than one room at a time without 100% supervision.  If you can't supervise, the dog needs to be in a crate or a pen.  As the dog gets older he'll be able to hold it longer.  Dogs will also find the furthest spot from where they normally "live" to eliminate, so it might not necessarily be the fact that you have taken him out that downstairs door before, but that it's far from where you normally are with the dog.  Just keep a better eye on him and up the number of times you take him out to help prevent his mistakes.
