Question
our family just got a lab and we just love her a friend of mine told me that a lab is 5 times more likely to bite a kid then a pit bull  is that true do you have any info i might be able to read about having our little puppy with our kids and how i can help teach her how to behave around our kid and any other kids

Answer
Well now all puppies bite its a sure thing...puppies play bite people like they do with there littermates, play biting is easy to fix its simple to push the dog away say No or yell Ow and ignore the dog....if one gives the biting puppy attention it thinks what its doing is ok because it gets played with/petted the same as if it wasnt biting. What your friend told you is however a lie pitbull puppies ply bite too, as do jack russell terrier puppies/boston terrier puppies/shituz X puppies/ golden retreiver puppies/chihuahua puppies and yorkie puppies as well.... ALL puppies play bite its there 'thing' so to speak all puppies grow out of it after a few months thou as long as you channel there nibbling...push the dog away and ignore it for a few minutes, dont let the chilcren play with the puppy using there hands ie pushing the puppy and Making it bite there hands this is poor practice as in a month or two the play nibbling will hurt alot more. If the puppy is pulling on pant legs or shirt sleves give it a time out in its crate or kennel and also its always nice to give the puppy a good selection of toys to chew on. Best of luck and enjoy your new puppy Labrador retreivers are wonderful company.
