6 month old female still not house trained

Question
even though she is crated at night 8/9 hours with no accidents! She is taken out at least every 2-3 hours during the day and as soon as she gets outside, she goes pee. But if she is in house when the urge strikes to pee, she does not hesitate to do it. How can we teach her to let us know when she needs to go out? We do not have this problem with poo. Never has she done that in house. We are so frustated!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Has this been going on since you got her or is it a new behavior?

If it is a new behavior, I would have the vet check her out for a Urinary Track Infection.

If it has been going on since you got her, I would take a step back in the training.  Pretend she is a little pup that you just got.  Keep her areas in the house limited to the first floor, the family room, the room where the door she goes out to go potty.  However your house is laid out.  You will have to spend more time with her and watch her more.  Take her out after every meal, every nap, every play session, like you do with an 8 week old pup.

I also know folks who have great success with THIS method:

They learn to ring a bell when they need to go out

It happens, some pups are just a tad slower in learning.  We had 1.  He's 1 now, and I have him and his brother.  His brother learned to pee outside on command.  But the other, he'd get spooked or sidetracked outside, wouldn't potty, and then would do it inside in a corner of the room when we weren't looking.  It took catching him a few times and making him go outside.  We reduced the area he could be in and watched him more.

Good luck!
