Question
i have a 16wk male lab puppy just wanted to know if i could give him a fresh bone to give him to chew on

Answer
Many people do, but I wouldn't.  The dog guide school we raise puppies for flatly forbids giving them any kind of bones.  Our 14 year old Lab never had a bone in her life, and her teeth are in better shape than many dogs half her life.  While many people claim bones are safe, I have heard little argument that they don't wear the teeth faster.  Dogs do fine without bones.  There is little reason to risk giving a dog a bone.
