Lab puppy waking up EARLY

Hi,
I have a friend who has an almost 5mo. lab puppy who wakes up really early (4-5am).  They have her crate in their room.  I was going to suggest to my friend that maybe they would be better off moving her crate to another room and maybe that would help her to sleep in a little?  I didn't want to suggest that until I asked you though.

I would try to track down anything that could be disturbing the puppy.  We once discovered our timed plant light was coming on at 5 AM.  Believe me, the diffenbachia did without its light until 7 AM.  Look for anything on a timer.  Early arising neighbors are harder to fix.  Even this time of year, that seems early for the sun.  Years ago, I built a dog house in the spring.  The dog's first morning in it, he was barking at dawn.  Room darkening shades on the west side of the house are the most you can do about the sun.
