Question
what over the counter med can i give my 117 pound lab for pain he just had surgery yesterday for a hematoma in his ear so they cut it open to drain the blood.

Answer
The only safe one is aspirin, buffered aspirin being easier on the stomach than regular.  5 mg for each pound of dog every 12 hours, or a regular 325 mg tablet for most Labs.  If that doesn't seem to be enough, call the vet and get the good stuff.  Tylenol and Ibuprofen can be deadly for dogs.

Few Labs should weigh 117.   Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest.
You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is
different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog
must have its food adjusted to its individual needs. See
