Question
My 8 month old chocolate lab will not go after a Frisbee. She will run after it on the floor but when i try to slowly take it into the air she refuses to go after it. She will catch a little stuffed one but she chews it up and wont give it back. Is there any way i can teach her not to chew and fetch a normal Frisbee

Answer
You might get her to chase it by putting a little peanut butter on it.  Once you get her chasing it, you can work on getting it back.

That will go better if you are clearly in charge.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts.  Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
