1.5 lab mix chews everything

Question
I adopted a Chocolate lab (mix?) about 7 months ago and was told then she was maybe a year old, of course we can't be totally sure about that.  I took her to two obedience classes right away but she still has some behaviors I am struggling with.  The first is chewing:  she chews anything she can get ahold of either when I'm still sleeping in the morning (after I've let her out to potty) or when I leave for work.  I give her lots of chew toys and have tried to puppy proof.  She does NOT like the crate and has chews blankets when left in it.  Should I keep trying to crate her and she'll eventually get used to it, or is she too old at this point for that to work?  I take her to day care twice a week and when totally exhausted she won't chew, so perhaps it's just puppy-ish energy/boredom?   The other behaviors are jumping and leash pulling. Help!

Answer
Damaged possessions are the fault of whoever was watching the puppy. When you are watching it, immediately correct it as soon as it goes for anything except its own toys. In a quiet, but firm voice give it an ''Ah, ah, ah!''. Gently remove what ever and replace it with one of her toys, or if older, hold eye contact until the puppy drops it.

The crate is the only answer when you can't watch her whether she likes it or not.  Maybe in another year or 2 you can trust her.
