Jack Russell Loosing Hair

I have a 4 month old Jack and i have noticed over the last 2 weeks that she has been loosing her hair both under her neck as well as on her hind legs and both places are showing pink skin, originally it started under her neck but i thought the cause may be her collar so i have removed it and only use it when she goes out, but over the last few days i have noticed that she it starting to loose hair on her hind legs, my question is, is this just normal shedding for this time of the year or is it something worse. She doesn't scratch it or anything like that and she is eating and going out just fine.

Hi David,

It's true that at this time of year they are shedding their summer coats and the winter ones are coming in - but you really shouldn't be seeing pink bald spots. You should take her to the vet to have her looked at because this is the age that sometimes allergies rear their ugly heads; plus some yeast infections cause hair loss, some skin conditions called alopecia cause hairloss, or even a mite/flea problem could be the cause. It's better to be safe and have her looked at. Good luck.
