Underweight?

Question
Hi :)
I have a beautiful 4.5 month old Great Dane and I fear she is underweight and don't know if I should be worried. She's only 17lbs. She doesn't look skinny, she looks healthy and the vet said she's healthy. But everyone I know, my puppy daycare, my friends who own Great Danes say she is super small. My one friend's Dane is 5.5 months and 90lbs. I feed her twice a day 2.5-3 cups a meal with Holistic Select for Giant Breed Puppies. This is the food that has been working best for her. Should I be worried about her weight?

Answer
Crystal,

Without seeing a picture of her and the type of frame that she is I cannot  really answer your question as to whether or not she is too small. But from your description, yes I have never seen an almost 5 month old Great Dane that weighs 17 lbs. My 9 week old puppy weighs 38 lbs, so that seems very small. I wouldn't worry about her weight unless she is exposing her ribs and hip bones. Is she a purebred or a mix? That weight compared to age is very small.
