going in the house

Question
Hi,

I recently adopted a 2yr old GSD from a rescue group.  We have had her less than a week and she is a great dog.  My only problem is that we take her outside and she urinates ( we praise her) but then she comes in a later she poops in the house.  She has done this twice.  We were told she was house broken.  She was just spayed days ago and wasn't crate trained. We got her a crate and she seems fine in it so far.  We are working with her on training and she responds well to the commands.  Any idea on what I can do so she doesn't poop in the house?   Thanks for the help.

Answer
Settling in, being spayed, etc. may be part of the problem.  Try to learn her schedule and when she will be having a bowel movement.  Take her out on leash, and keep her moving except when she starts to sniff around.  Just keep going and going.  Sooner or later, she won't be able to hold it any longer.  Celebrate, raving about what a good dog she is.

Thank you for adopting.  I hope I am able to help you with this problem, and any others you have with her.
