Question
my 8 week old male pups, likes to bit kids & adults around tha ankles. he has sharp teeth & it hurts, I have had one new owner return the pup and ask for a refund.I have no clue how to change his behavior..please give me your advice.

Answer
Hi Larry,  That is common puppy behavior.  That is the way puppies play, they knaw on each other.  Unfortunately, he has puppy teeth so it hurts.  Also, when they are teething it will make them want to chew more also.  Another thing is that GSD's are herding dogs, so they have the instinct to herd things.  That is why they bite ankles, because they are herding.  So you have a double whammy in your case of a herding puppy who also wants to play.  You can curb that behavior by having spray bottles around with water in them.  When the puppy goes to chew on someone's ankle, have them use a spray bottle to spray the puppy in the face as he is trying to bite them.  This will hopefully deter him into not wanting to bite ankles for fear that he will get sprayed.  Hope this helps,
