Question
I have a shepard about 1 1/2 years, he is a house dog and goes through spells where he distroys our furniture.  We've gone through 3 couches and a recliner.  He does this when he's left alone, although we have 2 other dogs there with him.  However, he doesn't do it each time he's left alone.  My husband is ready to put him out, for good.  What can I do to keep him from distroying our house?

Answer
Hi Donna,
This is done either for spite u left or seperation anxiety.?
What I would do is confine him in the kitchen or a room with little in it, with tons of chew toys.  When your going, tell him you will be back soon.
They do know english if spoken to alot like I do with mine, they are highly intelligent and learn fast about what your saying.  I have left up to 5 in the house and ran to Wal Mart to return to nothing done.
I have one bitch that will chew down the house, so she is kenneled if we leave to shop.

Make sure the dog gets daily exercise to tire him down.  What I do is bike with a dog hook, we both get some exercise.  It is fun and they soon learn to enjoy it.

If u catch him chewing anytime get a spray bottle of water, add a tad bit of vinegar and spray his face good and loudly say:  NO NO.

Kind Regards
Patt
