Shepherd Chasing...

Question
Our 11 week old German Shepherd puppy has begun chasing cars, trains, and just about anything on wheels.  We are very much into trainging her and I know she is still very young.  I'm just looking for advice on proper correction and if she will grow out of this behaviour.
Thank you...

Answer
Hi Steve,  GSD's are herding dogs, and are bred to go after things that move.  Unfortunately, that can mean cars, motorcycles etc.  You should get her into training right away, but the thing you need to remember is that instinct overrides obedience, which means that a strong herding instinct can override all the obedience in the world except maybe electronic collars.  Even then I have seen dogs with extreme herding instincts run right through electronic collars.  My best advice is to get her in traiing right away as well as keep her under wraps so that she can't get hurt trying to herd the vehicles.  Wish I could be of more help,
