degenerative mylopopathy in a german shepard

Question
We have a german sherpard bitch(4 years old) that we got from germany that has blue papers for permission to breed. We have a male that is 9 years old that is also from germany that seems to have degenerative mylopopathy in it hips. Have you ever heard of this problem and is it something that should not be passed on? It is a very large dog over 100 lbs and according to the owner's it started to show signs of the problem about 2 years ago. We had tried to let them breed on their own but the male was unable to penatrate the female on his own. We have been considering artifical insemination but have been told that the male may have this problem. We are also considering breeding with an american shepard that we don't know alot about. The reason that we are considering breeding is that we want to have 2 shepards so that the female has a play mate more than anything else, not to start a breeding service. Would you breed with the german male, the american male or just have the female fixed and forget about the whole mess? Please answer ASAP because our bitch is in heat!

Answer
HI JAY
DO NOT BREED YOUR FEMALE TO THE MALE, THIS IS GENETIC AS MOST THINGS ARE.
YOU WOULD HAVE A LITTER OF CRIPPLED PUPPIES TO GIVE AWAY IF AT ALL?
I WOULD NEVER BREED MY GERMAN DOGS FROM GERMANY TO ANY AMERICAN MALE.  THEY ARE CRIPPLING THE BREED ALSO TO SHOW AND I HATE THE LINES ANYHOW TO MIX WITH THE GERMAN ONES.
FIND ON MY LINKLIST A BREEDER CALLED WEISBAGEN, THEY SHIP COOLED OR FROZEN SEMAN FROM THEIR TOP STUD, I WAS GOING TO USE IT, BUT HAVE TWO GOOD MALES FROM GERMANY THAT BREED NATURALLY AS I FOLLOW THE STANDARD.
YOUR MALE IS WAY OVER THE LIMIT IN WEIGHT ALSO.
CLICK ON LINKLIST ON MY FRONT PAGE AND BROWSE THE BREEDERS ON IT.
