German Sheperd Ears

Question
Hello, I have two Sheperd pups, sisters one which is has brindle markings and one solid black.  They were born March 19th 06.  The brindle's ears are erect but the black one's ears are still very limp.  Is this cause for concern, or is it still too early?  Should I give her calcium?  I would appreciate your input.

Answer
Hi Chris,  Yes you should give them a calcium supplement.  Between 4-6 months of age, the teeth tend to take the calcium from the ears to replace the baby teeth with adult teeth.  When this happens the ears will get limpy, and can go up and down.  You should supplement with calcium until they are at least 8-10 months old when you know the ears are completely set.  If the ears are still limpy by 8 months old, then you will want to tape them.  Hope this helps,
