Question
Hello, I have a GSD, he is now 6 months old and I have had him since he was 7 weeks old, He is on Science Diet puppy for large breed, recommended by my Vet. The trouble is ever since he was young he really doesn't seem to like it. Do you have any other suggestions on what to feed him so he can grow to be a healthy and happy dog.

Answer
Shepherds are notorious for being picky eaters.  He might do a little better on something such as Pro Plan or Iams which are a little more concentrated.  Since Science is lamb based, I would stick with lamb.  Switching to adult now would slow his growth allowing more time to develop sturdy joints before reaching his full size. If you switch, do so over about a week.

If he still doesn't eat enough to completely hide his ribs, leave well enough.  Better to be eating barely enough of a good diet than a bunch of junk.
