Question

My floppy but handsome
My German Shepherd is 13 months old and he is a large long coated black male and kennel registered. He has a small head and nose and his ears both still flop over at the tops. We have heard this may be because we had him cut at 6 months? He did have alot of long coat on his ears which we trimmed so the weight would not pull the ears down. If he is out in the wind they blow up lovely!! And he will raise one for an occasional minute until the top flops again! We do love him as he is, but wonders if there is anything we can do to help or if at 13 months it is too late and his ears will never stand up? We do massage them regularily.
Any tips or diets to help?
Thank you.

Answer
Hi,

Yes very handsome!   He is actually what we call a bi-color, he is not a true black.  The tan markings on his feet give it away! :-)  You are correct it is too late to fix his ears, and is just genetics, not anything you did or didn't do.   At 4-5 months, they probably could have been taped, if you could have found someone who know how to properly, but now is too late.   I think he has a loving owner who will love his just the way he is!   Have fun with "floppy but handsome"!   Consider it part of his "character".
