Question
Dawn,

My GSD puppy is about 11 weeks old and although very young, mostly housebroken.  He started medication for deworming 2 weeks ago, and the past 5 days has been leaving stools in his crate daily.  This was not a problem prior to the medication.  Also the other day I noticed him eat a piece of rock salt and he immediately threw up.  I had a divider up in the crate but he is just sitting/stepping in his stool sample.  What can i do to correct this new problem.  His daily diet hasnt changed, other than him wanting to eat alot of grass.

Please help!
Wayne

Answer
Hi Wayne,  Deworming a dog can cause them to have accidents due to the medication.  Is he still taking the medication?  His stomach must be bothering him if he is eating grass a lot.  If he is still on medication, then the problem will continue until he stops it.  You will want to keep him in the crate for shorter intervals to try and prevent the accidents at this point and then work your way back up on the amount of time of him being in it.  Sort of backing up the truck on the training a little.  Hope this helps,
