Question
I have a gsd pup who is currently 4 months old...he is very healthy and active.  He is still teething and ears are up and down everyday.  My main question is,  at 33lbs is he an average weight?  i have heard stories of their dogs being around 40 and also heard stories of their gsds being only 25...What is the range he should be in? Thanks

Answer
Nobody can say.  You have heard widely differtnt things because they vary.  Yours, the 40 pound one, and the 25 pound one may have all been healthy dog at a good wieght.  Shepherds usually refuse to to eat more than they need, and often keep themselves on the light side.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food adjusted to its individual needs.
