behavior problem? & Potty training

Question
Hi Patt.
I had to put my long time friend of 13 years to sleep a few months ago. So its been a long time since I had to potty train a puppy.
I just adopted two puppies about 2 weeks ago. They are both girls and are  almost 10 weeks old. They are German Shepherd mix with a Black Lab. I'm not doing too well in the potty training department. They know that outside is the place to go, and have even alerted me to let them out at times, but yet while playing with each other, one will run off in the middle of play and pee on the carpet or floor. I always catch them in mid stream and pick them up and tell them "No" and take them outside.  And when we are outside and they potty, I always praise them and tell what a girl they are.
So how long before they get the hang of it? Any advice?  My husband said we should spank them when they soil in the house. I have read that spanking is not a good idea.
One more question.   The one puppy has shown some aggresive behavior with me. Like when I pick her up when I catch her soiling the carpet, or if I pick her up to just for whatever reason.  She will snarl and growl at me.   That behavior worries me. I dont want her to be aggressive with the family when she gets to be an adult. Is there something I can do to nip this attitude in the bud? I have two children.
 Any adive will be appreciated.

       Thanks,  Kim

Answer
Hello Kim
Thank you for your question for me to try and solve?
I have two pups I am working with one imported from Germany April 21, and one I kept finally from 13 some litters I have sold and got one slipped through the cracks to keep.  A girl and boy pup of one 5 months boy, one 6 months girl.  I have them both house broken as my pups are so easy to do they told me but I never knew not keeping any now I know.  Just exit the same door always to the same spot outdoors, WAIT TILL IT GOES  then pet and praise to high heaven.  Even have a treat on hand to give them.
Put some ring of keys or bells of sorts on the door knob for them to learn to hit, they learn quickly at least mine do.  It is something new to teach them and it alerts u to a call in need.  Otherwise take these babies yet out every hour to go and pet and treat.
NEVER SPANK A PUPPY OR DOG, THIS IS THE REASON THEY LEARN TO DEFEND THEIRSELF.  THIS IS THE OLD WAY TELL THE HUBBY NOW IT IS ALWAYS POSITIVE TRAINING OR NONE AT ALL AND RETURN THEM.?
If one showing some agression so young is easy to break, first of all are u going to be THEIR LEADER AND BOSS?  If so, then get a spray bottle of water, add a tad bit of vinegar in it and spray its face good and loudly firmly, say NO NO HEAR ME THIS IS IT PUPPY.  NO MORE!!!
With this agression in your tone and manners it will get the idea it had better not growl again for it is not scaring you nor is it working in this manner, soon it quits.
I have NEVER had a puppy do this to me and I baby sit alot of my pups so they are not put in boarding kennels for vacations they do not want to take them along on.  They adapt and never forget me nor this place of birth or my voice.  If u visit my web site at WWW.VOMSCHREKNHAUS.COM click on some of the videos u can see how i start my pups with my voice mostly on young litters, i think i have some up??
With the Shepherd and Lab mix it might take a while to adapt to and train because of the Lab for they are bird and water dogs that have a numb brain for some time till u pass this then they are good dogs.  It just takes some time alot of patience and love much love in doing this with two expecially.
Take out often same door to same spot, lift water bowels at six p.m., feed no later than five p.m. preferable four p.m, this heat they should be getting 3 smaller helpings of wet kibble of hot water over to let gases escape because of BLOAT.
Then let them out late as possible 11 p.m  or later and then with no water or food they should soon learn to hold it.  Lay some papers layered at the door they exit daily for Potty in case and gait off a room, mostly the kitchen and let them be, burn a night lite and play some music so they go to sleep.  If crate training even better do not place dishes in crates, only a toy or a  RAW beef soup bone from the grocery store to chew on at night or during the day, good for the teeth.  If they do not get all the meat product off in the heat, refridge for a couple hours then give back to them so they do not get ill from sour meats and fats on it but soooo goood for them.
Also, give a good kibble like Sensible Choice, Solid Gold, Innova, Chicken Soup and Purina Pro Plan chicken n Rice.  wet with warm water, stir some ten seconds add supplements i get mine from WWW.SPRINGTIME.COM/LIVE AND USE JOINT GUARD AND BUG OFF  rather than flea chemicals and the Joint Guard is super for good bones and joints and hips.
The Best to you All and never punish a puppy, be its leader and trainer to teach right from wrong always. Never negative or u will end up with a NUT ADULT.  Visit my site and look at the grounds, females, males, etc.  See my dogs together, I have not learned to do this new site or new nicer photos would be posted.   Soon I will and u can see mine running together but the videos on the some 11 of them show u how controlled I am of my pack of dogs now 8 of them.

Kind Regards
patt
