Puppy fears husband

Question
About six weeks ago I purchased a 3 1/2 month old German Shepherd puppy from a reputable breeder.  My husband was gone on an extended business trip at the time, so the puppy came home with me and my three children.  My husband returned about 4 weeks later.  Since the moment the puppy saw him she was afraid of him.  She will get nowhere near him. She tucks her tail and runs and hides.  He has tried bribing her with treats, petting her while I hold her, holding her himself and petting her, anything we can think of. She still runs away from him as soon as she can.  (She has never acted aggressive or tried to bite him though).  It has been 2 weeks and there has been no improvement at all. Other people have come to the house and while she is initially fearful, she has eventually let them approach her and even pet her. What can we do to get get her to accept and trust my husband?

Answer
I am not sure there is much more to do other than more of the same.  It sounds like she may have had a bad experience with somebody similar to him in the past.  if she will walk for him on leash, go ahead with that.

Stand straight, flash a toothy grin, and make eye contact works great with people, but is just the wrong thing to do with a dog.  He needs to crouch down to her lever, avert his eyes and avoid showing his teeth.

Unfortunately, by the time you got her, she was past where they accept new people and experiences as well.  It is best for a puppy to go to its new home at about 7-8 weeks.
