heat cycles

I have a female that will be 2yrs in feb,2006 she has had a heat every 3 mos should I have this checked or is every 6 mos just the avg thanx

Hi Kim, Every 6 months is the average.  Shepherds can be unsatble in heat cycles the first couple of years until they settle into their own norm.  Was she a late starter?  Sometimes if they are late starters, that can screw up things.  Also, there are other factors, like other females around that come in heat.  Hope this helps,
