Breeders

Dear Dawn,

Can you please recommend reliable and caring German Sheperd breeders in NY, NJ, CT, PA, MD, MA, VT, NH or RI.

My wife and I want to get a GSD puppy or young dog.

Hi Michael, Unfortunately I live in the west so do not know of any good breeders back east.  What you want to look for is one who will give you at least a year guarantee for health problems & genetic faults and a two year guarantee on the hips.  You also want to personally meet both parents as well as any siblings from other litters if at all possible.  Also if you can meet the grandparents, that would be great as some genetic problems skip generations.  You don't want to purchase from any breeder who won't let you see their facility.  also you don't want to purchase from a breeder who has any shy or aggressive dogs, as this can be genetic and pass on to offspring.  Hope this helps, and good luck.
