1 year old german shepherd rescue bitch

i have just adopted a 1 year old german shepherd bitch from the animal rescue centre, she has recently been spayed. I have 2 cats 4 years old that have been raised with my previous german shepherd. This is the first time I have intergated a new dog with resident cats. The dog is an unknown entity very well behaved at times but easily excited. Currently they are seperated. but the dog appears over excited and lunges if she thinks the cats are about. I am unsure as to when to introduce her to them. Any tips  please? I was raised with GSD's and have always owned one. I have only had this one for 3 days and apart from the issue with the cats and being over excitable she appears to be gentle and loving

I would be very careful about leaving her around the cats.  Make a great show of valuing the cats.  You must signal her the cats are part of your pack.  Don't leave them alone together until she earns your trust.  It is difficult to say what her experience with cats has been and how she will behave towards them.
