I just adopted a 7 year old male german shepard. Is he too old to breed ? He is an AKC champion and was a great show dog. His bloodline is well documented.

There are too many variables here to answer this question. So I am going to give you some questions to ponder.

Why was this dog given up? Was he producing problems? Was he sterile? Did you get the papers with breeding rights? - probably not - so then you cannot breed him. If you don't have the breeding rights you cannot register the litter.

My suggestion is to neuter him, love him and give him the retirement he deserves.
