scared of fireworks,etc.

hi, my wife and I got a gsd, from the dog pound a few years ago. the problem is everytime he hears a "pop" of any kind such as fireworks or gun fire. he goes crazy... his tail between his legs and he literly tries to tear down our door to get in.... what do you think has happened to him in his past.....

Hi Harold,  It is so hard to tell what could possibly have happened to him.  The bad thing about pound dogs is that you don't know their past history, so you learn by trial and error what affects them and what doesn't.  Wish I could be of more help, but there are dozens of things that could have happened to him.
