Not gaining weight and shedding lots of hair

Question
I have a beautiful white german shepard approximately 11 months old.  She is big for her age, but she doesn't seem to be gaining wieght.  We feed her twice a day.  Also she is shedding alot of hair, I know that she is a double coated dog and will shed but I have hair all over my yard.  I clean it up and  a week later it's all over again. I have given her d-worm worming medicine two weeks ago. And I have bought one of those special brushes for her tupe of dog.  I just really feel she should be heavier than she is. Thanks in advanc for your help.

Answer
Hi Tamara,  When you deworm a dog, you have to do it twice, two weeks apart, to kill the hatching larvae.  the shedding could be from the worms and/or the heat.  Also, she is probably blowing what they call the puppy coat to get her official adult coat, so she will be bascially blowing a double coat.  As far as weight, that takes time, depending on what you are feeding, how much exercise the dog is doing and also genetics.  Some GSD's are naturally lean for the first couple of years.  Hope this helps.
