Question
QUESTION: Hi Labman. I have male GSD Pup who will be 16 weeks this Saturday.any time we take him for walk he barks at people(may be v protective)how can we stop this behavior.

ANSWER: The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. QUESTION: Hi LABMAN. thanks FOR ANSWERING LAST QUERY.GSD puppy will be 16 weeks this Saturday his one year is up and other goes up occasionally. Please advise is it normal or will it go up on its own or should i get them glued or taped?
Regards

ANSWER: Yes it is normal at that age for the ears not stand all the time.  They nearly always eventually stand on their own, sometime not until a year.  I don't know glueing or taping does any good.

i gave him half tablet of drontal each time.

Regards
he is drinking water as normal he was bit lean but then later on bit better and play full asusuall

Answer
Worm medicines often cause diarrhea.  If it doesn't clear up in a few days, check with the vet.  If you have heartworm in Ireland, he should be on a once a month remedy such as Heartgard +.  With your mild climate, I need to use it year around.  It also controls other worms once you clear out an infestation with the Drontal.  You shouldn't need to give anything else routinely.  I would suggest an annual fecal check.  For a puppy, the vet should do one every time you are in for a shot.
