Left ear flopped

My german shepherd is 10 weeks old. When we first got him we noticed his left ear was flopped over. Last week both ears went up for a full week. Now is left ear went back down again. Is this normal and will it go back up again. The vet said his cartlidge is still growing? what do you think

Hi Scott,

What is happening with your pups ears is normal.  They may go up and stay up until he is done teething but most likely will do the up and down thing like you are seeing.  As he grows, his ears are kind of a reflection of periods of teething and growth spurts, so your vet is right in that the cartilage in his ears is still developing.  If the ears are not up by the time he is 4 mos old then they may need a bit of help.   Let me know and I can tell you what to do if this happens.
