SAFTEY CONCERN

My 2 german shepards have killed my neighbours King Charles Spaniel, it came into our yard.  One of the german shepards, the youngest, cames from police breeding and she seems to be the instigator and has no fear or respect for other dogs.  This dog also attacked my small dog a tibetan spaniel on 2 occassions and if I wasn't there she would have died for sure.  The other time was when the tibetan was accident run over by the car and hurt her hip, then the german shepard female dog came in again and started to attack her.  The tibetan didn't make it, which is just as well as she lived a life of torment with this other dog around.  But THE CONCERN IS I have small children, 9 month old, 3 yr old and 7 year old, should I be conerned, I have always let the older two play outside with the two dogs and they have so far been fine, I have had confidence in the dogs.  Should I be more concerned for the new baby or it there aggressive reserved for animals.  PLEASE ADVISE.

Hi Gracie,  Female GSDs, especially ones that come from high prey drive breeding (police dogs) do not get along with other dogs.  They will kill other dogs especially if it is in a pack situation as is what happened in your case with the other dog being involved.  They don't normally have any problems with kids, unless they have shown aggression to humans, but with the typical female GSD it is just other dogs that they have problems with.  Hope this helps,
