I have a 4 months german shepherd , and i notice her ear are not up yet,I am giving her puppy chow large breed formula, and yesterday while I was taeking care at the vet, I saw a german shepherd that is 4 months as well with ears UP, so I was just curious to see what s going on?
please advice me if i need to switch to purina adult food instead of puppy chow.

Answer
Most Shepherds' ears are up by 4 months.  Some still come up later, and some never come up by themselves.  Many swear by gluing and taping them up.  I know of no evidence that any of that helps.  With the control they have over their ears, it could be a behavior thing.

I have no idea how an early switch to adult chow affects ears.  It is the best possible thing for hips.  It slows growth allowing more time to develop the sturdy joints an active dog needs.  If your dog is doing well on the Purina and you feel good about it, I would start working in the adult version of it when you run low.  Feeding a number of different protein sources when young makes it harder to work around it, if a dog ever develops food allergies later in life.  The dog guide school I raise puppies for used to feed it and the dogs did fine.  I suspect much of the reason they switched to Pro Plan was the smaller, firmer stools, much easier to clean up and dispose of out in public if you are blind.
