Question
Hi my german shepherd is on hills science puppy and i have been told by another breeder that this is to high in protien could you recommend a good puppy food or is this one my pups on ok

Answer
Too much and too rich of a diet can lead to joint problems.  Usually Shepherds are more likely to be on the thin side than too fat, but an over rich diet can still be a problem.  The best informed breeders advise an early switch to an ALS type food.  I believe the regular adult Science Diet is suitable.  You could also get about the same thing for less feeding Iams or Purina 1.  There is more to it than the protein.  Excess calcium is very bad for bone structure.  It need to be less than 1.5% by analysis.
