goofy shepherd behaviour

Hi,I have two GSDs.One male one female.The male has a stuffed animal toy that he carries around the house every morning and whines/cries/grunts.He looks around for hiding places in full view of everyone,and then comes over and gives it to me.What do you think of this behaviour?

Just wrote a long answer and deleted it somehow so here goes over again alot of typing for this old lady so late tonight.
the dog is competing for your attention he is feeling left out for some reason so he has found a simple way of getting your attention, give him tons of hugs a day, exercise with a daily walk, and talk to him alot in english like he is your child.
go to the grocery store and buy him a RAW beef soup bone and tell him this is special for u because I love u and let him chew on it, good for teeth and gums.
Get the hard seven dollar nylabons at Wal Marts for him to chew they last a long long time.
Take long walks and stop and give him a hug and tell  him what a great dog he is to you.
They do understand us and the Shepherd has the largest brain space of any breeed on earth to learn so versitile that they can be.
