Question
I HAVE A 4.5 MONTH OLD GSD THAT EVERYONE SAYS IS SMALL FOR HER AGE, BUT I THINK SHE JUST HAS NOT HAD HER GROWTH SPIRT JUST YET. MY QUESTION IS, COULD MY GSD BE A DWARF? AND ABOUT HOW TALL AND HOW MUCH SHOULD SHE WEIGH AT THIS STAGE OF HER LIFE? BECAUSE AS OF TODAY'S VET VISIT SHE WEIGHTS 25#'S.

Answer
Many German shepherds are much bigger than that, maybe 50 pounds and 20'' at the shoulder at 4.5 months.  Some dogs are small for for their breed.  My 8 month old Lab, Holly only a healthy, lean 39 pounds.  In case she does put on a growth spurt, it would be best to switch her to an adult chow.  That will delay reaching her adult size, but give her more time to develop sturdy joints.
