A real german shepherd?

Hello Labman,

I have a question regarding german shepherds Ive seen lately. Im a huge fan of the breed and I know a little about the standard of the breed but as of late Ive seen german shepheds getting taller and taller. I know their is a difference between german bred and american bred but is the new standard for american bred taller now?

You could check the current breed standards at www.akc.org  My older reference book gives 24-26 for the males.  I think many people prefer a larger dog, and people may be breeding what people want.  Doing so dismays the show dog people who think everybody should do things their way.
