Question
We got our puppy from the humane society and know she has
shepard in her due to her markings.  We belive she is also part
Lab. When we got her she was around 4 months and weighed 26
lbs. Now she is 8 to 9 months old and weighs about 65 lbs. Has
she grown too quickly and should we put her on adult food or
even a diet?

Answer
Yes, switch to adult chow now.  An overly rich diet can lead to too fast of growth and contribute to joint problems.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest.
You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is
different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog
must have its food adjusted to its individual needs.

Thank you for giving her a good home.  There are so many nice dogs needing homes.  Most Lab mixes are solid color.  If she is a real eagar eater, she could still be part Lab.  I guess I have seen dogs with a Lab's coat, and the markings of a Border Collie.
