hi i have a 10wk old female gsd got her when she was 7wks i love her and all but how do i stop her from eatting her poop and is the food i have her on a good one she eats purina pro plan chicken and rice puppy food thanks

Answer
Believe it or not feces eating, otherwise known as Coprophagia (mostly referred to as a dog eating his own feces, but can also mean eating another animal's feces) can be a common problem with dogs especially between the age of 6-12 months (but not limited to that age bracket) and usually disappears around their first birthday.

Its usually caused from boredom or is looking for nutrients not found in their current dog food.

Shepherds should be on a Premium Large Breed Puppy Food such as Ekanuba or Royal Canin.  Both Make an excellent Premium Large Breed dog food as well as an Adult German Shepherd Dog food made for the diet requirements of the german shepherd.

There are many things you can do to help your dog.  I've written an article on it which can be found on my website
