Pure bred or mixed when buying a German Sheperd?

Question
I am considering a German Sheperd, but want to know if I should stick to a pure bred or can I go with a mix such as at a humane shelter?  I have a son who is 20 months but who is respective of dogs and likes them.
Thanks for your help.

You can most certainly rescue one from the pound from death most likely, go slowly down the line and temperment test each one
You can also if you have the funds to buy a purebred, but so many mixes need homes or they are put to sleep and make wonderful pets, I have rescued myself in all my over 65 years many dogs from the shelters that made wonderful loving pets.
If u do not care about breeding, showing and walking a purebred down the park, go  to the pound and save a pet and give it a loving home in need, so many sweet hearts are just waiting for people like you.  Save a dog or pup now.

Kind Regards
