Coexisting with a westie

We have a beautiful 1 year old male GSD and a 6 year old female westie that has been with us since the GSD was a pup. Our GSD is well socialized, and never aggressive with other dogs. However, he is relentless in his playful pursuit of the westie. I've heard that we should let them work it out but any aggression from the westie is seen as play by the GSD. My fear is that he is simply going to wear out. Any ideas?

As has been suggested, it is best to let them work it out as the Westie will let him know when she has had enough.  I would suggest more exercise and playtime for the the GSD as he seems to have lots of energy.  If you need a break, then crate the young boy for a time.  lol  And give the westie a break too!
