QuestionHi: My gsd bitch pup born 26/11/06 had her first heat starting
on 01/06/07 which I thought was early,it lasted for just over three weeks and seemed normal enough to me(limited knowledge).
Now she has started a second heat only six weeks or so later. Should I be worried about this or is irregularity within normal? She seems perfectly happy/OK otherwise.
Regards:D.R.
AnswerA Puppy's first heat can start at six months and some as late as 18 months. The average time for a german shepherd's first heat is around 9 Months.
It is not uncommon for a pups first heat to be repeated or irregular, and is not worthy of concern. This happens to a small percentage of young females. Once your dog matures her heats will even out and be more regulated.
Glad to be of assistance
Sincerely
