Question
i have mixed breed dog he is about three years old. i have had him since birth. a couple of months ago he statred to jumping over the gate. he dose not run away, he just goses and stands on the porch and we have to grap his colloar and lead him back into the back yard. he only doses it after he has been in the house for a vist or the other dog i out of the yard. my question to you is if we had him sniped would this stop his jumping, and what can we do to stop him from jumping the fence?

Answer
I think jumping the fence is a learned behavior.  Now he knows he can, it may be very hard to stop.  Yes the snip may help.  We certainly don't need intact dogs roaming the streets, and it will reduce his incentive if there is a female in season up wind.  You don't want him jumping your fence, bolting across who knows how many streets and then jumping her fence to produce an unwanted litter.

Can he spend more time inside with you and the other dog?  I can help with chewing and fouling the house if that was a problem in the past.  Post back.
