german shepard (car sickness)

Question
I have a 7 month old german shepard puppy that gets car sick everytime he is in the car.  He only goes on short trips.  Almost as soon as he gets in the car he starts to drool all over the place.  If I know we are going someplace I won't feed him before we go.  I saw the one question regarding dramamine.  Does that work?  If so what is the corect dosage to give to a dog?  If there are any other tips for a car sick dog that would be great also.  I really would like to take the dog out with me a lot more.

Answer
Hi Bob, yes Dramimine can work.  Start off with half a pill and see how that works.  If it doesn't work, go up to a whole pill.  Normally it just takes getting a dog used to riding in a car which can take time.  A lot of short trips is the key to it a lot of times. Trying crates with wire instead of completely enclosed can sometimes help too.
