crate large enough

Question
We recently adopted a German Shepherd from an animal shelter & would like to buy a crate for him (for air travel). However he is 55 inches long and 35 inches tall & we have been unable to find a crate large enough for him. I'm sure there must be crates this size. . . Do you know of any specialty stores or web sites where we could find a crate this size?

I am sorry I don't.  Having a crate big enough is very  important.  The airlines have gotten very strict about it.  Why don't you call an airline you are likely to use and find out exactly what they require.  Maybe ask them if they know a source.  Should I check with the airline my son flew to Florida on?  They showed up with their shelter Fox Hound? and the crate they had been using.  The airline said it was too small, but traded them for a crate they thought was big enough for free.  it was like their other crate, but higher so the the dog could hold its head upright.  

Sounds like a big boy, the one I would have taken. I wonder if he is a Shepherd, or a Belgian Tervuren.  They look the same, but run bigger.  Shelters struggle trying to identify dogs.
