Question
QUESTION: my dad just returned Tiki(my dog) to me. his not eating much and i don't know what to feed him. He only eats few and I'm worried. he is getting tin now,but still strong to pull me when i take him out. please help me with this. he just turned one year old this month. I'll wait for some answers. thanks!

ANSWER: How thin is thin?  How does he rate at http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx  Some Shepherds insist on keeping themselves thinner than the ideal shown there.  As long as his ribs only show a little, he should be fine.

What are you feeding him?  It should be one of the common brands of dry dog food, Pedigree, Iams, Pro Plan, etc.  You do want to avoid one with corn as its first ingredients for dogs that are light eaters.

If he won't eat enough of one of them to stay only slightly on the thin side, he may have a problem requiring seeing the vet.

QUESTION: i feed him feeds(HiPro).well his ribs are already seen..so that is To0 thin..well..actually he only eats if you try to tis him lyk joking around to feed his food to another dog..he is kinda greedy..or selfish.what to do?huhuh.

Answer
I am not familiar with the HiPro, but it may be as good as anything.  What is the first ingredient?  For dogs that don't eat well, it needs to be a meat or a meat meal.  They are more concentrated than the foods that start with corn.  If it starts with corn, you need to switch to brand with more meat.

Has he been checked for worms?

It is hard to say without seeing him, but some dogs do keep themselves thin and the ribs showing some.  You may have to accept it.  It is rare for a healthy dog not to eat all it needs.  A dog is better off eating the complete and balanced diet a dog food provides than a high fat diet trying to add weight.
