Tucker and small dog

Tucker just turned a year old she is very nice to people and most of the time dogs we have another little dog and as soon as I walk outside she keeps the other dog from coming around me and the other day there was a big fight just by me walking outside I seperated them and grabed tuckers neck and put her to the floor and told her no anyone have any suggestions, I seen that one the show the dog whisper..Thanks Emily

I see the problem as her failing to accept you as leader.  The Dog Whisperer is strong on leadership, but many find his methods harsh, outmoded, and ineffective.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Once you are in charge, you should be able to make her down stay while you interact with the smaller dog.
