GSD with sensitive stomach - canned food? and pain medications?

Question
We have a 5 year old GSD male very active and on the mutantly larger size who has, from his puppyhood, had a sensitive stomach - vomiting within hours of his meals. He became very thin and our vet suggested trying the sens. stomach blend. We now feed once a day at night time and use a high end sensitive stomach dry brand and we've been very pleased.  However, my question is... since we prefer to mix a bit of canned food in with the dry food, what brand or ingredients should we look for to include with the sensitive stomach dry food?  We use canned food due to all our GSD getting bored with the dry food and they will only eat when mixed with the canned.  Any suggestions of high quality / nutritious  canned food for sensitive stomachs would be great. Also, what would be your suggestion to calm his vomiting should it continue?  It only occurs within 6 hours after eating in a calm environment.  Also, what would be the best otc recommendation for pain for him?  He runs a lot around our property and at the end of the day and for a few days afterward, his hips and legs are sore as he limps and is rather slow.  I want him to be comfortable and was curious what would be your suggestion to help with the discomfort especially with his sensitive tummy. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Answer
Hey Kimberly
Try putting him on a food with no grain. Something with no by products, corn, wheat or soy. Most canned dog food is made from by products, which in turn are made from 4 D meats. Dead, diseased, dying, and downed animals. YUCK. Try a Premium dog food, like Wellness. Natural Balance. Flint River. Eagle Pack. etc something offers a no grain no by product formula. You will have better absorption , less waste and less irritations. Instead of feeding him once per day, feed him several small meals. Empty tummies produce more acid, and large meals are more difficult to digest. Give him a small snack when he first wakes up in the morning and last thing before he goes to sleep at night. something like crackers, or all natural plain yogurt with live cultures. Get him on a good supplement program, condroiten, glucosamine, msm, vitamins A,C,E,Bcomplex, bone meal, calcium, flax seed oil, omega fish oil.
For pain (you may not need it once you get him on the supplements)try ascriptin or another coated aspirin product. No tylenol ever.
Don't put too much into his food, he will become a picky and demanding eater if he hasn't already. Then you'll find yourself scrambling for something to make him eat. He either eats, or he doesn't. Try to leave his food dry,, and eventually he WILL eat. I would also look at what the protein source is. Sometimes dogs develop allergies to chicken, or beef. Lamb is not a good source all alone but needs fish or something along with it.
Let me know how he does
