whinning

Question
Ok so I was reading your answers to others and liked what I saw. So let me ask my own little question.... My Sheperd/husky dog loves to whine!! I don't know what it is. If I bring him out and leave him with a friend he goes nuts. I'm only gone for like two minutes though. He also gets super exited when I say lets go for a walk. Now I understand that but he gets so exited that he whines. It sounds like I'm beating up a littler kid or something. We just went camping and he went nuts when we even looked anywhere else but his direction. I know he wants to be with me all the time but how do I get him to stop whinning? Seriously I'd rather have him bark then whine like a little hurt kid. Please let me know what I could do. I swear he suffers from anxiety. But then again I was told that huskies act that way. Please get back, thanks

Answer
Hi Lou,  Yes Huskies whine.  Unfortunately you can not change the breed they are.  When a dog has a breed trait, you can't change that.  Be thankful, GSD's are barkers, I think I'd rather have the whining.  :)  You can try spraying him with a spray bottle of water when he whines and tell him "no", but there is no guarantee that will work.  I would try it though and see how it works.  It might deter him a little bit.  Get one of those spray bottles that have really long distance on them so you can correct him from a distance.  Hope this helps,
