German Sheperds ear

Question
Hi,
I have a AKC german sheperd puppy that is 17 weeks old.  Her left ear is not coming up. I read your response to other people regarding the ears.  My concern is that the one that is not coming up had surgery on it for a cyst when she was 8 weeks old.  Her right ear has been up and down and is completely up and sturdy, just like you have said, but the left one has never come up at all except for when it is gravity assisting it, thus head back and looking up.  She might stil be teething since I see at least one baby tooth left but the rest are her adult teeth.  I had my vet tape it a few weeks ago but he used some foam tube that went into her ear canal and she couldn't tolerate it so I took it off.
1.  Should I be concerned yet?
2.  Is there a way to tape it myself with just tape and no sturdy tubing placed inside the canal to irritate her?
Thanks for your time and expertise.  Bye!

Answer
Hi, you still have plenty of time for the ears.  I would get her on calcium supplements, and then when she reaches between 6-8 months old, then start worrying about supporting the ear.  You can use perm curlers to support the ear, they are a lot lighter so most dogs can tolerate them better.  Hope this helps,
