QuestionI didnt know if this was a breeding question or not. I have a 3 month old german shepherd puppy. He has one ear that is going up but the other one isnt...does that mean i need to tape it now or is that normal?
AnswerI think normal is for both ears to be up for good at 3 months. However, many times one or both may not come up for a while. I have seen a report of an ear coming up by itself as late as a year. Some people tape them, but I have my doubts if it actually helps. In cases where it ''works'', doing nothing may have too. There are instructions at www.leerburg.com but I find much of their advice questionable. Most sources I find reliable, say nothing about the ears.
I would avoid diet supplements and switch to an all life stages food at 4 months. Too much calcium and other rich food leads to fast growth and joint problems.
As for breeding questions, what I don't like are the people thinking asking a basic question or 2 substitutes for the extensive study breeding quality dogs requires.
